Rams put in a claim for center Lamont Gaillard, but he’s going to the Bengals
Could some depth be added soon?

The Los Angeles Rams were said to be one of three teams who put in a claim for former Arizona Cardinals center Lamont Gaillard, but the Cincinnati Bengals were ultimately awarded Gaillard due to being higher on the waiver order.
The other team to submit a claim was the New York Giants so they would’ve been higher priority as well, but at least now we know that the team is attempting to fortify the offensive line ahead of training camp.
The Rams feel confident in what they have with Austin Corbett at center but some depth at the position as the team heads into camp would be ideal. Gaillard, a sixth round pick in 2019, appeared in 13 games for the Cardinals last season while playing 213 snaps and allowing zero sacks.
In the interim, LA could also into center Austin Reiter if he does not sign with the Bengals on his visit. Since they just were awarded Gaillard, it would make sense if Reiter left without a deal.
Reiter has a ton of experience at center with the Kansas City Chiefs and working with a player of Patrick Mahomes caliber would only be beneficial for a team that is trying to get back to the Super Bowl. Besides Reiter, there are not many players out there that would be better than backup center Coleman Shelton. If they’re still looking to add better depth than Shelton and Brian Allen, they might have to wait until after teams cut down from 90 to 53.
