Didn't know Johnson was out there, been leaning only to Peterson until I heard his name.....No to TGIII never bring back someone, doesn't work, people expect to see what they saw, not what is present. No to Bell, too much baggage to deal with with a team in out position. Everyone else on there....I guess they offer something, but Johnson kinda shines out a bit more to me anyway....
This IMO won't be done ASAP because IMO you do that you can get burned, we already got a bad burn with Cam going down, they don't need to make it a double whammy....they will IMO step back make sure Cam is going in the right frame of mind and operation wise, set for camp, look at what they have, play some preseason games, then make a move or stand pat for that time being. Players will be available going into the season as well.
On paper, I would take Gurley back for inside the 20 work with Henderson getting outside the 20 carries. But talk about a burned bridge in reality. There's no way Gurley would come back or that McVay would take him back.
I would much rather have a lead back and I don't think Henderson will fill that role. He's a decent enough complimentary back and maybe spot starter but IMO, we need someone better as the lead back. As much as I admire Duke, I think he has shown that he is also better in the complimentary role than the lead role. Freeman as well. Peterson is too plodding at this point. For his age, what he does is incredible but he doesn't have that extra gear anymore, his receiving skills are adequate at best and I just don't have a good feeling about him at this stage.
On paper, I like Bell. In reality, his attitude and personality have to be considered but IMO, he is a guy who would benefit from being plugged in as the feature back on a spotlight team. In terms of scheme, it seems that he needs a particular situation to excel and the Jets and Chiefs obviously weren't it. If McVay wanted him and thought he'd fit, I'd be fine with him on a 1 or 2 year deal.
