I agree. I would not trade any picks for a RB. You go through August seeing what you have (or don't have) and then maybe do a pickup at final cuts. There will be multiple experienced RBs released.

That said, with Akers a few things. One, he will have 13.5 months until the 2022 season begins so more than ample time to recover. It's better for his 2022 outlook that this happened now vs., say, October. Will it affect him longer term? Maybe. Two, with the RB position I am in favor of drafting one (in later rounds) every year and 2022 should be no exception. Three, one of their RB3 candidates (Jones, Calais) could be up to handling the RB2 job. We'll see.

I think if anything this might set them up to need to take a RB higher in 2023. If Henderson plays well in a bigger role it helps set him up for free agency after 2022. And 2023 would be the last in Akers' rookie deal so two drafts from now is probably a spot where the Rams could dip into the RB market again in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. But that's some pretty far off speculation on my part...
