I don't think the Rams are lying or spinning per se about not wanting to sign another RB just yet.
I think they're not prepared to make a move of any significance too soon (or at all).
For all we know, they really do like their RB room and don't want to prematurely get a vet in and not really need him in the end. There's only so many reps to go around.
My problem is not whether they have enough good backs, it's the TYPE of RBs they have. None of them are very big. And I think every team needs a hammer for that 1 - 1 1/2 yards for an important 4th down, goal line, or to keep the clock running at the end of the game scenario. We had one in Brown.
We'll see what the Rams think about that. I favor Peterson over Gurley. He didn't leave under the best of terms with McVay so I'm not sure they'd really want him back unless Gurley's ego has been sufficiently curbed to realize he is now just a role player looking for work.
