Everett was McVays first ever draft pick. Hand picked by McVay to be his stud Jordan Reed receiving TE.
If Carroll gets Everett to be a major producer when McVay basically couldn’t, McVay will have some egg on his face, especially since he was supposed to be the TE guru.
