When looking at who the Rams let go, clearly they like Havs

June 22, 2021 12:49PM
We can all have our opinions based on what we see from the stands or on the TV. But obviously the Rams like Havs and want him and are willing to stay with him and pay him. Why? Because he does all things pretty well as a ROT, and he gives much needed stability to the position. ROT used to be seen as perhaps the least important spot on the Oline. Not any longer. Teams have gotten wise. Why have your best Edge Rusher go up against their best pass rush defender? Move him to the other side and let him line up against the ROT.

So good ROTs are no longer "you can find one anywhere for cheap". You need 2 good starting OTs. If the Rams didn't think so, they would have moved on. They certainly aren't shy about doing so.

Rams are probably only going to plug in 1 new starter on the Oline this year; Evans is a guy who has played a lot of ball for the Rams, and is trending up. This kind of continuity is worth a lot in itself. Corbett moving over is a change, but he played with this unit for 2 years and did a good job at RT.
