I would prefer a more even-keeled approach where neither "excited" or
not is an issue.
Vermeil didn't talk this way about the GSOT even after it was clear who and what they were with Warner and Faulk.
Before they knew, after Green went down, he said we will rally around Warner and play good football. His mood was not the point.
Frankly the Rams came out flat last year one too many times for my tastes. Like the Jets game. A couple of times, they let inferior opponents get up on them. I want the team to be even-keeled, dedicated and so on, and not run by "excitement." Or the lack thereof.
Other people will like this kind of thing which is fine--it's just a different view. No one knows how it will go, so, what we're talking about right now at this point is just our own perceptions of it. My own perception is that talk about a coach's "mood" is just not where I want a team to be. Optimistic? sure; dedicated? sure; eager? sure; confident? sure; ... but excitable? Personally, I am skeptical about that. I mean even Martz didn't talk that way when he inherited one of the greatest offenses in league history.
