Like many others, I have concerns about Evans. Right now I will jump into prediction mode and say, I doubt he surprises me.
Stafford needs pass protection too, just like any other qb--he is not by and in himself going to make up for problematic protection.
A running game will help (in fact not since 2011 has Detroit ranked higher than 18th in yards per carry rushing, and usually they were ranked in the high 20s).
Not playing from behind a high percentage of the time will help.
But the OL still has to be at least average-solid at protection, and like others I am not sure Evans is that.
