Holmes has never done the drafting. It's always been a collaborative effort between the HC and Snead.
When Fisher was the head coach, he had final say but it was collaborative then. I think it's been reported or implied that Snead has final say now but it's still very collaborative. Snead has been the type of GM that gets the HC the type of players they specify.
But Holmes has always worked for Snead. He was a trusted assistant as the director of college scouting. I'm wondering why people are thinking he's responsible for the results.
You have the structure right, according to everything we've ever heard from them about their drafts.
But--Holmes was a big contributor. Not to making the picks, but in producing the final ranked list. As Chief of scouting, he would have a huge say in that. And we know Snead listened to him too. Snead was praising Holmes before the Rams even hired him (Snead).

I agree he was a big contributor. I definitely don't want to downplay his contribution and maybe it came off that way. I know Snead leaned on him a lot. In addition to pounding the table for Fuller, there was a story where Snead asked him if he would trade for Ramsey so he was definitely a trusted assistant.
I'm just confused on why someone would think Holmes should get more credit than Snead.
