Quick question on your stance that it will affect how free agents see the organization.
First, I do agree that McVay and Snead could and should handle things in a more professional or classy manner. It sounds like McVay needs to get much better in the communication department.
That said, above someone pointed out that the Pats have a lot of disgruntled former players and it hasn't seemed to hurt them. Free agents still flock there. What says we can't get the same results?
Blue bit. Agreed. And we saw a lot of things in 2020 that indicate this might be even more of an issue than we are assuming.
Red bit. Is anyone claiming the Patz have communication issues? "Disgruntled" is a meaningless term by itself--do they complain about
communication issues?
Because the person who talked about "disgruntled" former players mistook the issue and thought it had to do with being cut.
And btw the complaint about Green Bay right now is communication issues. There are some commentators who are saying that while Green Bay management may be professionally good at finding talent, they do not know how to manage people. Which is just another way of labeling the communication issue.
So yes a team can get a bad rap when it comes to that.
Me? I personally don't know about free agents and so on. I do know that I want the organization I follow and identify with to be classy and professional. I like to take pride in that.
....
Fair enough. I guess it remains to be seen on how it affects them with free agents. I want them to be classy and professional in and of itself too but I must admit I would really start getting upset if it affected the pursuit of free agents.
