Both tackles on no are free agents. 1. It may be hard for no to sign both. 2. Ramczyk may want the opportunity to play on the left side. Obviously we need to pay him but we found the money for Floyd so it's at least a possibility.
If Whit retires, we have his $14.6M to roll into the LOT position so the money will be there. If he doesn't retire, we don't need an LOT.
It's 13 M and they are cap-tight in 2022. IF there is a FA who ranks as a starting caliber Left OT in 2022 (and there rarely is) he will cost more than 13 M.
They are cap-tight in 2022 but I expect them to do the same round of restructures that they did this year. I think the plan after trading for Stafford was to push salaries into 2023 and 2024. That was always going to have to be done in major restructuring this year and next.
Also, as you know and as shown by the Floyd contract, the cap hit in 2022 could be much less than $13M. Basically, $13M is more than adequate to sign a LOT. To be honest though, I think the plan is to resign Noteboom.
No 13 M is nowhere near adequate to sign a left OT...look at what all the recent LOT contracts went for.
And you can't keep restructuring that way, it's the shortest route to cap hell.
AND the idea that there's just going to be this decent LOT sitting there in free agency is far-fetched anyway.
I'm sorry but there are some issues you don't just shrug off.
Basically finding an LOT is like finding a qb.
....
Floyd signed this year with a $5.5M cap hit for 2021 when his contract averages $16M per year. So you should know that $13M is enough to get a player signed; I didn't say it was enough to handle the contract average since it's not necessary for them to have that much available.
And whether they can or can't keep restructuring that way is immaterial since I'm pretty certain that's the plan. You didn't think they would aggressively restructure this year but they did. Trust me, it will happen again next year. And to your concern about cap hell, they won't keep doing it indefinitely but they can do it 2 years in a row without getting into major trouble.
Agree that finding a LOT is very difficult. And they don't seem to be freaking out about it which is why I suspect that they feel fine about resigning Noteboom.
