Look first you have to determine what is meant when throwing that word around. You also have to be willing to run with what others say that contradict former teammates etc and I have read enough and seen enough interviews and heard and seen conflicting accounts re both so I cry foul and assure you that Stafford can't be that guy nor is he that guy that carries this team. He is not going to run McVay. He does not reflect as Joe Montana, Steve Young, Drew Brees, Manning or Brady who elevated their teams after trades. Perhaps he can be an Alex Smith stop gap. The funny thing about Steve Young is that he was still a young gun when he left Tampa for SF. Clearly the least successfully and youngest to have a career turn around in a great system and with a genius HC.
Stafford may learn more and activate more but quite frankly even his highlights last year were not as good as they were years ago. He played well but the complexity did not seem all that. His receivers were open and fewer tight windows for his throws than I SAW WITH RAMS 2020.
So if the concensus is that Goff failed despite record and Playoff success because he has not eclipsed his SB season then Stafford better be a fast learner despite his unfruitful career when it comes to Leveling up the Detroit Lions. Now this team will not be the equivalent of 2018 offense or 2020 def so Stafford will be asked to do what he hasn't really done before to Next Level a highly respectable team with a quickly spoiled fan base. Buckle-up fans, this could be a bumpy ride. Brokers will get a view from the cheap seats in Detroit as the Rams are Leveling up their defense with talent already on the team. OUCH!
