If you don't negotiate the cap well it can hurt you.
No one on the face of the earth or beyond would ever suggest that having cap space is the same as winning games. So that's just a big straw man.
But we do know that if you don't manage the cap effectively, it can hurt you--sometimes in big ways, sometimes in nagging little ways.
Will the Rams manage the 2021 cap situation well? There will be optimists who say yes and who scoff at the idea that the Rams could ever do wrong in this area, there are pessimists who will scoff at the idea that things will be fine. There are also realists who will wait and see what happens.
