This one cuts a lot of ways. If it's the player--McVay picked him, McVay tried to get him more involved (eg. in 2019 before Higbee had his great series of games, they tried to get Everett going. GE got hurt so it shifted to Higbee.)
In 2020 they tried to get GE involved as a multi-purpose blocker. I don't know if that was a big plan or just a thing they did for a few games.
Anyway...if it's the player, he was McVay's player.
Now please don't, as some do, take this as a carte blanche total attack on all of McVay's coaching and everything he stands for etc.
It's just this one bitty thing.
