Snippet from DL’s reply.
But McVay has noted several times interviews after the Stafford trade that they lacked the vertical threat once Cooks was traded. He wouldn't say that if Woods, Kupp, and Jefferson were enough. And based on what we know of them, none of them are true vertical threats.
So with all respect my friend, when the coach highlights a personnell need, I don't feel we can call it group think.Well, let’s talk about that a little bit.
He actually said that they lacked the vertical threat after Cooks trade, but that was with Goff under Center. That distinction is crucial. And that big part of the condition is long gone.
Also, many have commented after watching the all-22 that there were often receivers open deep but either Goff couldn’t see them OR refused to throw to them. That condition also no longer exists.
So, I’m wondering just how high a priority Snead/McVay are assigning to the acquisition of a ‘vertical’ WR? Certainly a pricey FA one?
If one falls into their lap, fine. But I’m currently of the opinion that it’s not a real big need at this point. Maybe 5th or 6th on their to-do list?
