I think that this is the more likely explanation...and McVay wanted to try different attacks and that pushed against Goff's comfort zone and player limitations....and then McVay got frustrated that he didn't have the QB that could be a chameleon when McVay needed to become a different shape & game plan to win against certain defense.

What do you do with the argument that the good coach doesn't just draw up things and cram a square peg into the wrong hole, but finds ways to maximize and win with what the qb has?
And I grant in advance that the argument is academic, because the trade is done, and there's nothing wrong with having Stafford.
But although academic, it is an interesting discussion about coaching.
