It simply doesn't happen that a player that can make the big bucks elsewhere stays for a lot less. And it would have to be a LOT less for the Rams to afford Floyd.
The market is not going to ignore a 10.5 sack, good run playing, young, long, Edge Rusher. Partly because like QBs the league is starved for productive Edge Rushers. He'll be paid well more than he's worth, he'll drop right back to a 5'ish sack per year guy (his historical norm), and be back in the market in a couple of years as the team that signs him licks its wounds and cuts him as a salary cap move.

Good player but he's just not an elite edge rusher...... although he'll get paid like one. Just not on the Rams.
One thing might conceivably work in Rams favor this one offseason. Namely, the Covid effect on the cap.
It might result in more numerous 1 year ‘bridge’ contracts until the cap space normalizes.
