Is Stafford THAT much better than Goff? I
think so....but maybe he won't be this coming year. However, we are in a great situation cuz we actually get to find out this coming season!!! So, I'm very happy we can all get somewhat of an answer if it was a Brady or Bellicheck kinda thing. So, we shall see.
Either way, I think both QBs are good enough to get their team to the play-offs...both have proven that - though Goff with more consistency. But I don't know of any fan who thinks that the Lions have EVER had a better overall team than the Rams...maybe EVER
(even during our 10yr drought 2005-2016) and that Stafford has had a limited amount of
quality players around him for his entire career. While Goff has had some very good teams 3 out of 4 years of his career...maybe even 4 of 4 as Fisher left him & McVay a talented group to add to.
Each QB has pluses and minuses, but McVay is the man in charge and is doing what -
he thinks- is best for the club. If the rams are better then cool...it'll look like it was the right choice. If not? Mcvay will be hard-questioned and deservedly so. But there are so many variables to what will be a successful season for Stafford.
Example: What if Stafford plays lights out and has a Pro-Bowl year and we
still lose in the play-offs...repeat last year's one & done. Does that mean the trade was bad and not worth the high price paid??? I dunno? It depends on how the rest of the team performed and even then we cannot know what would've happened if Goff were still here. I mean, Goff still got us to the play-offs in 4 out of 5 doctors....I mean, years
(sorry bad joke!) with
one SB appearance. It's like if we traded for
Archie Manning and put him on a better team instead of the Saints - perennial doormats at the time. It's reasonable to think the team will get better play from the QB position....but nuthin is written. It's all an educated guess and some coaches do that better than others. imo We'll see how & where McVay fits in with that.
If Stafford and Goff are not injured and can both play all 16games...we'll, hopefully, get a better feel about the trade. I wish both guys the best, but as a Rams' fan I'm horribly biased and blinded towards the Rams and lean to giving McVay the benefit of the doubt
- tho I think he coulda handled this better at a PR level - but again, I have no idea how they treated and put up with each other behind the scenes in order to find blame. I don't care it's not my business...I'm just looking at the final product on the field and want to really like the players/coaches, I admire personally....but know that is folly, as some folks are great coaches or players but... lousy humans) lolHowever,
winning is fun and kinda the point of it all.
Anyway, sorry to ramble...but it's great to read ya again after so long and hope you post more often again....we need ALL viewpoints here at the HERD cuz we humans only grow when challenged to consider topics from many viewpoints...so thanks fer postin, bro!!
