Detroit's new GM knew Goff personally and still didn't want him without extra incentives. The initial first and third were about stafford. The second first was just because no one was taking the Goff contract for just his play potential
Simply isn't true at all and full of assumptions.....
Detroit turned down better offers from Panthers and Washington because they wanted Goff
The Rams didn't shop Goff, but when the Stafford thing came up they simply made an offer to get it done.
I don't think the Rams would have settled for a 3rd and future 2nd to dump Goff the way the Eagles did with Wentz.....it wouldn't be worth the dead cap hit nor would we have a solid replacement in place and a third and future second are nowhere near the value the Rams get by getting Stafford.
Contrary to popular belief it wouldn't cost a team much cap space to take Goff at about $25M a year over two years isn't bad for a starting QB especially one who is only 26 and has taken a team to a Super Bowl and a couple pro bowls in his young career.
