Kelly, Price and Bradbury were all first round picks, which, since we lack a #1 pick, makes them hard to apply to this discussion. Bradbury was drafted to replace Elflein.
Cole and McCoy were hits in the second and 3rd round.
Not saying it's impossible, but the odds of finding a rookie OC of quality are going to be low.
Okay. Let's look at just 2nd round centers, and go back 20 years. That's here (though some of these are guards):

My bet is there are more centers who played well as rookies than receivers from the same rounds.
Some positions, like center and LOTs, you can't afford to have sitting and learning. You draft them as early as round 2 to start, because the alternative is nothing.
