I think it's just as easy (and accurate) to say he traded a QB who was clearly in decline and struggling to replicate earlier success.
I really admire McVay's desire to win and his refusal to get sucked into sunk cost fallacy by holding on to players who he doesn't believe make this team better.
Not many coaches would make those deals with Gurley and Goff and then effectively say, 'hey I got it wrong'.
Most would stick with the players to the detriment of the team for fear of looking dumb/incompetent.
He is under pressure though
