I thought we just traded a franchise qb away for an old @#$%&. What am I missing

You may be right.
You also could be wrong.
I was as big as a Goff fan as there ever was. There was a time when he could have been our franchise QB for years and years to come.
But, since the Super Bowl, his trajectory has been going down. He still has trouble beating the 6-1 alignment and has become a check down, turnover producing machine.
He is playing like how Ryan Tannehill played on the Dolphins, right now. They were not going anywhere with him.
Goff could someday get it together just like Tannehill did, but I dont think that will happen unless Detroit gets him an elite OL, RB, and upgrades at WR.
I thought Goff going to Indy would have been the best place he could have landed (for reasons stated above) but Snead/Mcvay placed him where they wanted him........
Stafford coming to the Rams is in a better position to succeed than Goff is and it's almost universally considered that Stafford is an upgrade over Goff.
You still could be right but at least consider that this move actually could help the Rams improve.
