And also upgrade the o-line and add a playmaker. So it will be just like this year?
No FA is going to cost less AND perform better. And we might just being trading Goff's flaws for someone else's flaws and spending all the cap savings in the process. That doesn't sound like progress. There's not likely anyone in the draft at the bottom of round 2 who can start right away and outplay Goff.
So...
Gotta disagree, promo. I think it CAN happen, just not in the way you’re probably thinking.
If McVay can find a FA or draft pick that can execute HIS system, we’re in business. Don’t need a superstar, just a fit for this system. Point is, Goff might be a #1 overall, but he ain’t playing like one. He’s been in the bottom third of the league for 2 years running. That’s not a high bar for the next QB to surpass. Look around the league. There are young QB’s tearing it up on other teams that were far from #1 overall picks.
Adding a C can be done simultaneously, probably with an early pick.
When you say playmaker, I assume you mean speedy WR? Possibly, but that’s a want, not a need, IMO. And we do have three 3rds and a shrewd Snead to find one, don’t we?
