Rams43
<snippet from R2K’s post>
Akers is a rookie who really didn't become consistent until late in the year of this year
We have good possession recievers, we don't have any one taking the top off a defense though
Our TE's disappear far too often
OL is decent, but also very inconsistent....I've seen them get bullied too many times this year including last Saturday
Well, let’s examine this snippet a little bit.
Yeah, Akers blossomed late but Hendy played well early. The fact is that Rams had a good to very good running game all year long. Not a Goff excuse at all.
Little harsh to call our WR’s possession receivers. McVay dialed back the deep throws to give Goff easier throws with hopefully less turnover risk, which required WR’s to get a ton of RAC yardage. Goff was the reason for that change in O philosophy. Heck, maybe Goff is now afraid to throw deep and defenders know it? All 22 shows that Goff missed a ton of open guys this season. All this is on Goff.
Our TE’s didn’t get the targets. They can’t throw the ball to themselves. Again, QB shortcoming.
OL was not dominant, but it was a helluva lot better than in ‘19. Many feel that a halfway decent QB could have gotten better results than Goff turned in. OL was definitely in the top 8, PFF ranked them #3. So that excuse goes out the window, if you ask me.
Look, Goff is the weak link on our O. The 5 year QB and the highest paid player on the team is the weak link. Think about that for a minute. To let that continue would be insane, don’t you think?
I take no pleasure in stating these opinions. I like Goff. He’s an easy young man to root for. But in the NFL it’s all about results and Goff hasn’t been getting the expected results for 41 games and counting.
I suspect that McVay has been pulling his hair out trying to accommodate Goff’s shortcomings and/or ‘fix’ him in other ways. I also think McVay has come to the end of his rope and is done with Goff.
So he was the weak link in the most important game of the year? Was he the weak link in the Tampa game when we couldn't run the ball?
He isn't the weak link at all....inconsistent play from him I agree, but he's not our weak link and the playoff game should have shown you that.
