Maybe SF is just a tough matchup for the Rams.
The Rams defense let a 3rd string QB led his offense to 2 consecutive FG's (49 and 51 yards).
The Rams were ahead 20-17 in the 4th quarter. Where is the outrage?
I don't think the defense earned outrage from the fans. Many defenses struggle to stop FG drives when an offense has plenty of time. Especially long FG's. Mullens isn't your run of the mill 3rd stringer either. He's started almost a season's worth of games in his career and has 5 games of 100+ rating in those 13 starts.
Not saying he's Dan Marino or anything but this wasn't a case of Ben DiNucci starting either.
The defense didn't earn outrage from me because if the refs had called any of dozens of holds and blocks in the back, the 9'ers would've had only their defensive touchdown.
The only problem I had with the defense was a focus on trying to strip Debo instead of just tackling his @ss.
And to be fair, the rest of the defense had a problem with that too. The other defenders were very animated in telling that guy to wrap up next time.
