I have always believed that if someone trusts you, no explanation is necessary. If someone doesn't trust you, no explanation is possible.
It's a matter of what you're looking for. It's called bias. If you're looking for flaws, you will find them. If you're looking for greatness, you can find that too. But to say you're completely objective as a fan? The very definition of being a fan indicates emotional attachment and therefore negates objectivity.
For me, I pounded the table for Carson Wentz in the draft to be Fisher's QB. I was skeptical of McVay until he won me over. Those games in '18 when Jared was awesome v the Vikes and Chiefs made me a believer. But this year, games v the 9'ers and Dolphins made me scratch my head in dismay.
Then I had and epiphany. McVay has expanded the offense this year and also Jared's responsibilities at the line. It's taking Goff time to adjust. He's progressing. It's not as sudden as we would like but I'm more concerned with the overall trajectory. Today, JG is a very good QB. I don't know how long it will take, but if he spends a dozen years improving w McVay, he will wear a gold jacket someday. I'm just too old to evaluate life in short bursts and looking back, 5 years seems like a blink of the eye.
