I wouldn't be so quick to criticize their strategy, though: it's true that they got no sacks, but they did get 3 turnovers and they did hold Philadelphia to 19 points. And I'll take that over 3 sack, 0 turnovers, and 26 points allowed any day.
I found it interesting because I was trying to find a reason he has been so ineffective as a pass rusher. If he is being asked to scout then that could be one answer. That said, IMO, he has been a disappointment the last couple of seasons... it looked like more of the same to me so far this year. Maybe he is finding his niche with Staley coaching him.
I'm not criticizing the defensive strategy at all. Happy with the results.
Lol, just re-read my original post... not what I meant to convey at all. How does that happen? I think my point was that I am disappointed in Ebu as a pass rusher. And I guess I thought if Staley was using him to scout and contain then maybe he isn’t high on Ebu’s pass rushing ability. Sorry for the confusion. At this point I am assuming that it’s just the strategy they are using and probably not a reflection on Ebu’s pass rush skills.
