In that way he's like Jeff Fisher. But his hiring was always going to end with him not measuring up, IMO, because the Chargers don't have the kind of GM a coach like him would require to sustain wins. Those types can't be picking players and making personnel decisions, they require an old school GM to pair with the old school coach who has an eye for the talent the coach requires.
Also the Chargers are a dumb organization. So will they hire the right coach, or ensure whoever they hire is bringing in the right OC to pair with their kid QB? They definitely hit on the QB selection, at least from what we know so far, he needs a staff who can elevate him now.
