right down to the order they came out of the tunnel and then returned.
Even when things went a bit off script the Rams were ready with a specific plan to get back onto script.
In essence the win was the result of nearly flawless preparation. Can they keep that up... on a weekly basis? I don't know... but I'm fascinated to find out.
Dallas was caught off guard... in battle terms it was as if they dug in and prepared their defense for a frontal assault only to discover the enemy, (The Rams), were in their rear as well as their front... and for that matter... out flanked as well.
Ram's execution, both O and D, was really something to behold, IMHO... but again, not sure they can be that prepared each and every week as the season wears on.
There seemed to be a lot of mixing and matching going on, especially on D.
Williams at outside CB, Hill at nickel, Fuller instead of Rapp, tremendous rotation at edge opposite Floyd, Deceptive ‘games’ going on at CB, etc. Staley is definitely tinkering to determine the limits of his various players. I love it.
On O, McVay was rotating RB’s and WR’s frequently, as well.
Perhaps they’re trying to make up for lost practice/scrimmage/ps games? Wanting to test their players/schemes in real time before finalizing a few positions?
I’m thinking that pecking orders at RB, edge, outside CB, and S are not yet written in stone. Especially edge and RB.
