I don't care what the so-called experts say in that article. Percentages matter in the long run, but you can't always play the odds in key situations. If the Cowboys had kicked the FG to tie the game, that would have put pressure on the Rams and taken the pressure of playing from behind off the Cowboys. I think it would be more reasonable for the Rams to have gone for it on the 4th down, but I still would have punted. You can't always go with the odds on a 4th and 1 in a critical situation. If a run gets stuffed, as often happens in that situation, the Cowboys are in great field position to move a short distance downfield and tie the game with a FG, and they would still have plenty of time to drive all the way down to win the game at the end.
