Over two seasons (1988 and 1989) Everett was truly elite. He was in the top 2-3 in every category, including leading the league in TD passes (60). You can argue only Montana was better over those two seasons. It was so weird to see a Rams QB throwing the ball that well...
Then after those playoffs things just changed-- drastically. Yes, the team faded around him but he was not the same. Glimpses here and there with some really good games but overall in 1990-'92 he was outside the top 15 (sometimes 20) in most statistics. 1993 things
really fell apart for him when he was finally benched.
He actually rebounded somewhat in New Orleans. He was pretty good again in 1994 and 1995 there.
I'll still always remember that 1986 Patriots game when he came in off the bench and threw three TDs. Rams lost that game on the Hail Mary but I said to my dad, "this team finally has a QB again."
