I think overall the 1980 team was better than 1985. The offense was WAY better. Their schedule was easier though (mainly because SF was yet to emerge).
In 1980 the four best teams in the league, in my opinion, were all in the NFC- PHIL, DAL, ATL and the Rams. Had the Rams not lost the season finale at home vs. Atlanta in OT (Corral missed 3 FGs by the way) they'd have won the division
for the 8th straight year and had homefield advantage in the NFC & hosted a mediocre MIN team in the divisional round. They'd probably have hosted PHIL for the NFC Championship game. And if they got THAT far, could Georgia have let Ferragamo walk to the CFL? What if, what if, what if....
But losing that season finale in 1980 is an often overlooked choke....
