I was at the game they won vs the NYG 3 weeks before. They'd climbed to 4-5 but the week before SF they had lost a close one at home to the Raiders. This SF loss made them 4-7 and seemed to seal their fate. Spiraled from there to 4-12, Knox fired, moving vans warmed up....

I think all of us thought Chuck Knox would bring the Rams back to respectability, however, long time assistant Tom Catlin his DC in Buffalo & Seattle did not come with Knox to Los Angeles, he stayed in Seattle, prompting Knox to give the gig to George Dyer. Also Ernie Zampese moved to Dallas after the 92 season, then the offense was doomed after that.

Many felt that Georgia was setting up the team for disaster anyways, in order, to get them to move to St. Louis, however, when she hired Knox in 1992 overruling John Shaw, who wanted to hire Mike Holmgren, she gave Knox total autonomy making him President of Football Operations and the Rams did pay for some higher profile free agents under Knox signing DT Jimmie Jones & LB Shane Conlin along with QB Chris Miller.
