Despite the resolute proclamations nobody knows what the fate of these uniforms will. I certainly acknowledge that they could be replaced if they don't have tge desired impact. But my point is that most "new" things are considered gimmicky until there not and after a while they become traditional. Do you remember watching football without the yellow first down line. Wasn't that a gimmick by fox? Now all broadcasts incorporate it.
Sorry, PHD. I think you are really reaching for a comparison with the yellow line stuff. lol Nobody cares about a yellow line the way they do about a uni. For every gimmick you name that succeeded, we can name one that didn't.
You say: "most "new" things are considered gimmicky until there not and after a while they become traditional."...OR the gimmick is discarded. Saying "
most" new things become "traditional" is stretching it a bit. I don't know what the percentage a new gimmicks becoming "traditional" is but I doubt it is "most" as you say.
As for the "desired impact"...the new uni has absolutely had an "impact". I am just not sure it was the "desired" one they wanted. IMO, @#$%& expected these uni's to be overwhelmingly accepted. If about a 50-50 split, and alienating a good portion of your oldest and most loyal fan base, is what they "desired", then I guess they did well.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
