A move up for Jones would be a solid and prudent move IMO. By the infamous draft value chart, the first pick of RD 2 (33) is worth 580 points. Trading number 52 and 84 would be worth 550, roughly equal. Assuming that Cincy would be willing to move, the Rams could make this trade up to get Jones and then work a slight trade down with .57 to get a pick back in the 90-95 range. It is more probable than not that this is Whit's last year and Boom is a very unknown and at best based on what we know now, it is suspect whether he is our LT of the future. Any chance to grab a potential solid LT should be explored. If Boom works out, great you have a very valuable asset. if he doesn't, you have an alternative. Granted Jones would be an unknown but he would be an alternative and any chance to double down on the second most important position should be explored. FA LT don't hit the market and when they do they cost lots - see Tunsils recent extension. I am not saying the Rams will make the move and, in fact they likely wont. Heck Cincy may want to take Jones themselves. But, the Rams should at least explore it.
