No one is going to ask Peters to shut down one half of the field the way Ramsey can.
I think we just see this one differently. I think they realized that Peters wasn't a scheme fit.
I also don't see Ramsey as a much better CB. While he can shut down one side of the field, he is not nearly the playmaker that Peters is. A few years ago Snead and Wade were talking up the playmaking aspect. What changed? Wade's scheme calls for a different type of CB than what Peters is so they weren't getting the man coverage element or the playmaking.
Even if Ramsey is marginally better, Spags has a very good point. He's not two 1st round draft picks better. Shortsighted!
The reality is, they traded Peters b/c they didn't want to extend him. They weren't willing to extend him b/c Wade didn't like him....again scheme. They should have thought a bit into the future and asked themselves, "are we committing to Wade and his scheme?"
That's a matter of opinion whether he is worth it or not.... some say he's the best corner in the NFL You don't hear people say that about Peters.
Peters is great in the right system where he has help over the top and can play zone, but he can't play man as we saw too many times when he was getting toasted. Ramsey is the better corner period.
You're not going to find a Ramsey at pick 20 this year, so it's well worth it to me to have an All Pro corner than to have a couple lottery tickets in the second half of the first round.
I don't see that as shortsighted at all.... imsee that as trying to get the two best defensive players in the game (Donald and Ramsey) on the same team.
