That all makes perfect sense, ZN, but these guys are struggling against other backups too. Hopefully our line stays healthy enough that we don't have to start two of these guys at the same time.
Demby looks like he can't play in the NFL though. Every time I've seen him blocking one on one, it looks likes he's being pushed back.
Has nothing to do with who they are playing (and...the Rams started out the last game against the Dallas ones).
It's cohesion as a unit, which by definition is not there. This is not a starting unit used to playing together, and they are switching positions on top of it. This is the thing. A good OL is not a sum of individual players. It's a choreographed unit that has to
play as a choreographed unit. Disrupt that cohesion even a bit and no one on the line looks good, no matter who they are playing. Cohesion only comes from playing together. Throw 5 inexperienced players out there and they will not have that cohesion.
THAT is what we're seeing.
Demby looks overtaxed by trying to play 5 positions. That's on top of the fact that (again) in an incohesive OL individual players will not look good. I trust the coaches to see whether he's a keeper. If he's not he's not, if he is he is. But looking bad to US in this situation under these circumstances is just an effect of how they're playing the entire OL. Either way, they have other candidates out there and being worried about one of them doesn't add up to much.
