I don't think the issue is, or ever has been, the reluctance to spend a lot on a QB.
The issue is the reluctance to spend a lot on the wrong QB, one who is not quite good enough to win.
Like Matt Stafford. Or Alex Smith.
That said, I'm firmly in Goff's corner and believe he is deserving of a huge extension but for those who feel he is borderline or not quite good enough, I get the hesitancy.
