I really don't see a reason to extend any of them this summer. Do Goff's deal and Littleton next spring. Peters needs to earn his in 2019. Blythe is probably a wait-and-see based on both his performance and how the rookie OL develop. Zuerlein is a natural one but he has missed 7 games over the past two years and I'd like to make sure he's 100% healthy. But it's not like he's going to want to go anywhere.
I agree but the way extensions often work is that you can sign them now but the cap hits on the new contract do not start until the following year.
With Goff they can wait until spring to do that because the new contract would start in 2021. Littleton, assuming they want him, is on a one year and they can sign him now to an extension that does not start until 2020.
The advantage of this approach is that it keeps them from getting competitive offers when they become free agents. Under this approach they don't become free agents.
