our perspective is a bit relative.
for Goff, it was a great game. he did more than just manage the game, he made a few plays as the play was breaking down and also threw a few dimes to Cooks. on top of that he overcame the noise of the dome, the helmet communication issues, the early INT and being down 0-13 early to come back and the it up.
however, if anyone saw Brady play, he made rediculous throws on 3rd down. multiple. hitting his guys in stride. it was surgical. he went down and scored 7 as they usually do, to win the game.
so I see both sides. Goff made a big leap in his progress as young QB and at the same time our standards are lower than some. Brady and Brees both would have hit woods in stride on that play and also would not have panicked on that one play where Goff bailed out early and threw it at our receivers feet with pressure coming.
Goff's mental strength is way above most and for all the talent Rivers and Mahomes and a few others have in the league, I don't know how many QB's come back from the situation Goff endured in this game.
I don't love the comparison, but as I've come to see Goff's strong mental side I've started to accept "ok, maybe he'll never be elite, but maybe like Eli Manning he's the right guy for us to win a couple Superbowls"
