Man, that was incredible! Thank you so much for posting. Loved every part of your story - especially Phil's 40 sec video clip of Lamarcus making the final pick that seals it and the crowd going nuts.
I'll throw in a few tidbits from my own story as a Rams fan. It all started with the Rams playing against the Vikings in the 1969 playoffs. Roman Gabriel. Jack Snow. Deacon Jones. Tom Mack. The phantom call on Mack with the Rams about to score from the 1 yard line for illegal procedure. AGGGH!!! Alan Page jumped, not Mack!!! I was inconsolable as a 9 year old. Plus the Vikings were my older sister's favorite team. But that year the Rams started 11-0. The Fearsome Foursome. I lived in New Jersey and rooted for the Rams. We subscribed to the NY Times and I had Rams precious article glued to my bedroom walls. The Rams vs the Vikings, vs the 49ers, vs the Cowboys. The glory days. Getting to the 1979 Super Bowl against the Steelers and entering the 4th qtr leading 19-17. A stat flashed on the screen that the team leading entering the 4th qtr had won so many times. My heart was pounding, but all for naught as the Rams lost with 2 incredible plays by Swann and Stallworth.
Greatest show on turf - memory of Bruce scoring 3 times against the hated 9ers in the first qtr no less! I got choked up watching us destroy them a 4-0 9ers team that had beaten so many times in a row. Ken Norton punching our goalposts.... Such a relief and tears of joy flowed.
Marshall Marshall Marshall. Watching Marshall run up the middle and stop. Seeing the Browns' DB flying past MF and taking out a defensive teammate, while Faulk darts left to the end zone. Vermeil stating "We didn't block anyone on that play"
Unflappable, accurate Kurt Warner. Hardened by Martz as his whipping boy when he gave advice to Trent Green. KW wanted it more than anyone else. And he performed his best when we needed him the most. Against Tampa in the playoffs - perfect ball to Proehl in the end zone. First play from scrimmage against the Vikings. Final bomb to Bruce in the Super Bowl.
Winning the Super Bowl was the epitomy, the classic ending, the desire that I had for 30 years of rooting for the Rams.... and it goes on with the 2018 Rams and that incredible win on MNF that you so eloquently laid out.
Thanks again.
