You cannot argue that taking Jones at 37 is a reach. You can try to justify it as a good pick for need, but it is a reach.
We have a lot more needs than just WR. We have reached in the past several drafts for skill talent. TEs and WRs have been reached for, and what do we have? Also OL have been reached for. Same result.
Let it fall to you. Cook will be gone for sure. 3 of the 4 teams at the top can use him.
Then see what happens. If you really want that WR, trade down. There is some falling talent that will be valued by someone.
Lamp / Robinson should go to the Seahawks & Jags. Big drop on OL after that.
I like either of those two at 37, but if they are gone, trade out. There will be demand.
Agreed, MD.
Here's the thing. McVay wants certain types for WR and TE. We don't know exactly what those types are, but he and Snead sure do. And we can bet that they are targeted. So, unless the fan favorite WR's are also McVay's "type", I see the Rams going in another direction at #37.
Just too much really juicy talent will be sitting there to pass up. That would be the long term smart play for a patient S&M, and S&M demonstrated patience yesterday by not trading up.
Sooooo...
And yeah, I think Snead is very open to a modest trade down offer. Maybe even has a conditional one already worked out.
