Good post. I agree with most of it by and large. I do have a few words of encouragement on Goff and Austin.
I liked the same things you noticed with Goff and was slightly dismayed at the lack of accuracy. But upon closer inspection I noticed that his footwork wasn’t quite right.
Since he was known for great footwork and accuracy in college, his lacking proper footwork in his debut suggests a lack of comfort in the offense. Which means that should be cleared up fairly quickly with reps.
I understand the irritation with Austin. My hope that things will get better with him are based on two things. First, he had horrible chemistry with Keenum. Probably because they were both short. Once Goff settles in, we may see a better connection between Austin and his QB.
Secondly, I feel that he and most of the other players on O are suffering from what I call the Fisher anti-Midas touch. It seems to me that nothing he does on O or anyone in his offenses ever really look good. When he’s gone, the next coach will hopefully know how to actually create a good offense and get maximum usage out a multi-purpose weapon like TA.
As an aside, not sure why you would blame TA’s signing on Fisher. Cook and Finnegan I get but Snead drafted TA. I’m sure he’s partially responsible.
