I've been a Rams fan since 1966.
And from 1966 to 1990, the Rams were never out of the playoff for more than 3 years in a row. So I remember what it feels like to watch a winnng team for 25 years.
We had a short stretch from 1999 to 2003 where we caught lightening in a bottle, but outside of that the Rams have been NFL doormats going back 25 years.
You guys want to get excited over 3-2, with the worst offense in the NFL, that's fine. I'm just saying I know the difference between being a fan of a winning NFL team and mediocre one.
I think maybe it's been too long for some of you guys to remember what a winning team looks like. It doesn't look like this one, regardless of the 3-2 number.
I'm right there with you. Been a fan since somewhere around 1964-66. I get that you're tired of losing and you've suffered, But for me, I'm happy to follow them every game win or lose. I'm not a fair weather fan. We're 3-2 and still in the hunt and I'll take it. And yes, I am excited about it and you're not raining on my parade. You can be unhappy if you want to be - we're 3-2 and that's fine by me.
Just ask my family. They think I'm nuts for sticking with this team for so long.
Think of this. There are good organizations in the NFL. There are bad organization. And there are also mediocre organizations.
Examples of the good ones are the Patriots, Ravens, and Steelers.
Examples of the bad ones are the Browns, Lions, and recently the Colts.
The Rams once were one of the good ones until CR died. Then they became one of the bad ones. Now they are a mediocre one.
Many Rams fans may not remember this but, back in the 70's the Rams were considered to be one of the very best organizations in the NFL. I was watching a video of an old Rams Cowboys game in 1975, and Jack Whittaker in the pregame called the Rams and Cowboys the 2 best organizations in the NFL. I remember those days, and I'm telling you we have a long long way to go to get back to where we once were.
I'm looking at the big picture. This team is currently mediocre. I enjoy watching it a lot more than a few years ago, but it's still nowhere near where I want it to be.
