. i dont think any defense respects CK as a passer ... personally i think they need to take advantage of what the defense is showing and throw their way out of this issue
Todd Gurley: "They really didn’t have too many in the box"
The Bills may have been the ones to finally figure out it's the other way around. You don't load up against Gurley and let them beat you with passes.
Which is how the offense contributed in wins against Arz, Tampa, and Seattle.
Seattle and Arizona were much more effective in limiting the Rams offense. That’s clearly evident by the fact that they both gave up fewer points, and much fewer in Seattle’s case. So no, the Bills didn’t figure some new secret out.
The evidence points to teams not respecting the Rams passing game.
And the teams that did that, lost. They lost because the Rams scored more than they did. The Rams did not score more than did by getting in the position to score, whether it be TDs or FGs, by running. They may have had the same blindspot some fans do. That is, they think because Keenum does not have a top arm that he can't hit big plays passing. But actually going back to his first starts for Houston in 2013, that's one of the things he's always done (because you don't need the arm to hit big plays if you have the other attributes you need to do that.)
And you're right Seattle and Arizona did not respect the Rams passing game. It certainly cost them doing that. Buffalo, on the other hand, did. They disrupted Keenum far more than the other 2 teams did. They took away long shots, they harassed the passer, and in spite of being ranked lower against the pass than either Arz or Seattle, made doing all that a big aspect of their game against the Rams. All 3 teams are top 5 in defensive sack percentage, yet the only one that did not give up much if any in the way of big passing plays was Buffalo (though when it comes to that they were lucky Quick and Keenum didn't connect). Seattle is a better defense but Buffalo had, it seems, the better plan.
