I hear you. It doesn't bother me, it just puzzles me, because I can't relate to it.
I read voraciously. About topics of every stripe.
But I grew up with guys who just really didn't care about too many things except what was right in front of them.
And many of them were very good at sports, and knew, or learned everything they needed to know to do that.
They weren't stupid. They were just not curious.
