For me, and skipping past the unanswerable "what makes a game boring" thing... if you're bored, you're bored.
As for Goff. Ok, you're the HC for the "Portobellos" and starting the practice week for next weekend's game with the Rams. Goff is a rook. Fisher is the coach. So you put in your game D game plan, defensively. You practice it all week. Now it's game day:
The Ram's come out and start with "a raw, green rookie, flinging the ball around the field".... did you get caught with your pants down? Do you adjust instantly and if so is it effective having not practiced for that all week? Do you ignore it because no rook QB can pull that off?
I don't know the answers to those questions.. I have an opinion... I like 'surprise', which does NOT equate to running 'trick plays'. That is one thing I think Fisher does poorly.
In the above scenario, almost certainly, you prepare the "Portobellos" for a rook QB whose coach doesn't want him "flinging the ball around" and you get exactly what you expect and prepared for. - JamesJM
