I can live with injuries derailing a season but to derail season after season that isnt just bad luck anymore its an issue somewhere in the organization dont you think?
Thanks for a thoughtful response. But no I don't think it is an issue somewhere in the organization.
I think the Rams have had massive OL injury issues for years going back to 2007 and some say 2006. I don't think it's anything anyone does. I think it just happens.
In terms of the qb, when you lose one, it's hard to find another one. They had Bradford, and as it happened, he went out with freak injuries to the same knee. They traded for a guy who had been decent and he fell apart.
So what did the organization do? It said to heck with this and traded up for the 1st pick in the draft.
Back to the OL. In the previous 2 years they added 8 young linemen. Robinson Rhaney Havenstein Brown Donnal Wichman Williams Battle. Of those only one had a previous injury history (Donnal). Since they have been Rams all but one has been injured (Battle). 4 went on IR. One played hurt (Robinson) and another missed time (Hav). One injury was in OTAs (Wichman) but he missed time because of it.
Now what are the odds of that. You acquire 8 young linemen in 2 years and 7 end up injured at one level or another. Ever heard of that?
Now if you're going to try and prevent massive multiple OL injuries one way to do that is to draft and sign a lot of young healthy linemen. And...it didn't work.
So I just figure the odds have to even out sometime. I mean, you figure, they just have to.
