'Elite' coaches pretty much equates to coaches currently 'winning'... I'm not all that sure that the HC is deserving of all the accolades in every case - it could be, and is often, I think, due to 'Asst. Coaches'.
I'm also not that comfortable with 'hand-me-downs'... yeah, no doubt some are worth it, not sure Carroll is, however... maybe.
I'd bet good money that several Asst. Coaches out there in today's game would make better HC's than a lot of the current HC's. - JamesJM
