Get a guy who fits your system, and have really solid coaches in place to make him go that next step......(getting Tavon and admitting you don't know quite what to do with him was a red flag for me).
It really is that easy (leaving health luck out of it).
Don't get small college guys high and have little/no coaching (Quick)......Get small college guys if they show ability (even in small college games), but have coaches and a real plan for them....
Everyone is a project coming out, even Todd was a project....he was worked and trained right.....he fell in place.....It doesn't seem like Donald was, but I guarantee you without Wauffle as his D-Line coach he would not be where he is.....Look at his "other projects" all his linemen can come in and do things....No matter where they are chosen or found....
Projects develop at the speed and ability of their coaches (unless the cat is dumb as rocks....and some surely are/have been).....IMO to be a top team you need some really special coaches.....not just talented college players.....
Coaching IMO is put down the ladder too much by some....they always point to the talent making the coach.....without a coach a guy is misplaced, misused, over used....or maybe never used.....talent is wasted, ignored, or hurt by the coaches your team has.
